Active Shooter & Intruder Response Training for Healthcare
Learn and practice techniques to respond effectively to workplace violence and active shooter situations.

Recognize behavioral pre-cursors to threatening and potentially violent incidents.
-
Develop the capacity to mitigate and prevail in the “worst case scenario.”
This 4-hour course provides healthcare administrators, security and front line personnel with information and strategies to recognize and respond to the violent intruder.
Typically the question asked when discussing whether or not to prepare for the possibility of a violent intruder is, “Since it’s not likely to occur, is this something we should really spend time and resources preparing for?”
Another question that is sometimes asked after this is “What are the costs of doing something?” This is really the 3rd question that should be asked.
The question to ask prior to this is “What are the costs of doing NOTHING?”
When answering these questions we must look at the decision making matrix for assessing risk and what should drive the decision on whether or not to prepare in advance
FIRST – “FREQUENCY”
What is the likelihood of the event occurring?
SECOND – “IMPACT”
If the event were to occur what would the impact be to our customers, employees and culture? And how does “preparing in advance” assist in either preventing the event or mitigating the impact if it were to occur.
This course develops the skills and techniques to recognize behavioral pre-cursors to threatening and potentially violent incidents. Through interactive discussion, case scenarios and experiential exercises, participants discover and practice techniques to respond effectively to workplace violence and active shooter situations.
