Avoid costly mistake managers and supervisors too often make when handling harassment claims.

For information on Online and Instructor-Led Sexual Harassment Supervisor Training customized to
your organization's policies and procedures go to: Sexual Harassment Training Course Directory

With interactive cases, You-Make-The-Call scenarios, checklists and directions, this course gives managers and supervisor the information they need to maintain the organization's policy against harassment and help the organization create a defensible position against harassment claims.

Recent Supreme Court decisions and new state laws have made employers even more liable for the sexual harassment and other forms of workplace harassment of their employees.

But, court decisions have also provided a road map of how employers can adequately protect themselves against harassment claims. That road map includes the anti-sexual harassment training managers and supervisors need to have.

Federal and state court decisions and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Guidelines make it clear that employers must have policies and procedures in place to prevent workplace harassment. But having a policy does not mean supervisors understand it or know what to do if they a claim of harassment or discriminated is brought to them. Again, court decisions and EEOC guidance make it clear that employers must provide training to ensure every manager and employee understands the organization's harassment policy. Through training, employers show due diligence relative to controlling workplace harassment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Definitions of Quid Pro Quo and Hostile Work Environment harassment
  • Recognize the most common myths and misconceptions about workplace harassment
  • It's Not Just About Sex Anymore - hostile work environments based on protected classes other than sex
  • What about abusive behavior and bullying?
  • Avoiding the "Bystander Effect"
  • Tips for identifying the four sexual harassment patterns and how to put a stop to them
  • Avoid costly mistakes managers and supervisors make when harassment claims are made
  • Practical guidance regarding the statutory provisions concerning the prevention and correction of sexual harassment
  • Methods for employers to establish the Ellerth and Farragher Affirmative Defenses to harassment claims
  • Available remedies to victims of sexual harassment in employment
  • Practical examples aimed at instructing the prevention of harassment, discrimination and retaliation
  • Tips to avoid retaliation claims
  • How to recognize the many faces of sexual harassment; you will be surprised by who's actually guilty
  • Checklists and guides to handle harassment claims
  • Pass the Harassment Prevention Quiz every manager and supervisor should be able to ace

Preparing for the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA)

Home / Human Resources / Seminars and Workshops

The Employee Free Choice Act is coming! Are you ready?

If the Employee Free Choice Act passes in the Senate this year—and many experts predict that it will—union organizers will be able to come into your business and organize your employees without a secret ballot election, simply by getting a majority of them to sign authorization cards. Not only that, but you will have to negotiate contract terms with them within 120 days, or else the matter will go to binding arbitration.

For some businesses, this legislation could be the most devastating development in years. Your business could be unionized before the managers even know what’s happening. And the arbitration requirement means that an outside party with no knowledge of your industry could be making decisions for you about contract terms like compensation, benefits, work rules and more.

Smart companies will start preparing now. Your people need training, both at the management level and the hourly level. You can do it in-house, but partnering with an outside firm gives you the advantage of objectivity and credibility. And our pricing is much more competitive than your employment attorney’s will be.

We will work with you to customize and package programs for both your hourly employees and your managers. For hourly employees, we recommend a series of one-hour information sessions. For managers and supervisors, we recommend at least a half day to full day interactive workshop.

Training Benefits

  • Identify current management practices that may be putting you at risk for union organization efforts
  • Ensure that your employees understand what it will mean to them if they sign a card
  • Give employees the tools to make an informed decision when the time comes
  • Ensure that your managers understand what they legally can - and CAN NOT - say to educate employees about the pros and cons of third party representation
  • Set expectations that can help your managers improve employee relations and your organization's culture
  • Train new supervisors/managers in the basics of good management skills
